New York, NY

This week is spring break at MIT, which means we have no obligations with our students. Thus we are planning to take an overnight trip to New York City. Our good friend Jen (my swimming buddy) has offered to watch Hannah for 24 hours, and we thought we better take advantage of that while we can. We are planning to go see a Broadway show in the evening, but we haven't yet decided what to do the next morning. I originally wanted to go the Liberty Island and see the Statue of Liberty, but all the tickets are sold out for early in the morning (and Caleb's not super excited about that anyways). I guess we will just save that for a different time...maybe with the whole family. Anyhow, if any of you have suggestions on what we should do in the morning (good museums, etc), let me know. That said, if you have any suggestions on where to eat, you could let me know that as well.

I was just in NYC a couple of weeks ago visiting my uncle with my dad.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art was cool. It's huuuuge. And it's just a suggested donation, so you can pay whatever. It's kind of weird because you do have to go through a line and fess up to someone that you aren't going to pay what they suggest, but they don't look at you funny and other people are just paying a dollar or whatever too, so it's okay. They have everything, armor and greek stuff and a whole Egyptian temple.

It's right in the middle of central park too, which could be fun, if there's good weather.

The natural history museum was okay. There's a cool history of
the universe thing.

Also there's always Times Square if you like over-stimulation.

NYC has so many good restaurants.

Soho's a great neighborhood for that (maybe it's greenwich village?). You can just walk around and there are a million good places to go. spring Street in particular. We went to some tapas place. There's a good and pretty reasonably priced Italian restaurant called trattoria spagetto my uncle takes us to in that area on Bleecker Street near 6th avenue.

Have fun!
