Yesterday's Field Trip

Yesterday Hannah's preschool took a field trip to the Albertson's bakery. Apparently Albertson's is the only grocery store on the island that still makes their own bread. The tour was perfect. We saw about 5 different things and each for only a short time (about the attention span of a 3 year old).

Our tour started at the seafood counter with the fish guy. This was my favorite part of the tour. Here's "Captain Jack" showing us a fish.

Then we got to walk into the big walk-in freezer. Hannah opted not to go because it was cold. Then we went and saw the bread guy put some loaves in the big oven and he also showed us the bread slicer.

Last on the tour was the cake lady. The kids were pretty engaged with this part of the tour. She had huge (I mean HUGE) bowl of frosting and she frosted/decorated the cake right in front of us. There are two pictures of this below. Notice how in the first picture there is a nice semicircle around the decorator, but in the second picture the kids are right next to the counter.

After the tour was over they gave each kid a goodie bag, which included a banana, water, nutragrain bar, and a coloring sheet. Yay for healthy treats. However they did send the decorated cake back to preschool with the kids. I had a bite when I went to pick up Hannah and it was tasty (as tasty as a white cake with white frosting can be :-p) I was glad that I had pushed my doctor's appointment back 15 minutes so I could attend the field trip. It was a really fun activity for the kids and the adults.

Daily Life

One of Hannah's favorite things is the play hide and seek. It's really cute because she'll say something like, "I know what we can do. I can go hide under the blanket and you can come find me." Or I'll be looking for her so I'll say, "Hannah, where are you?" and then I'll hear a voice say, "I'm hiding in the shoe closet." So I guess it's really her own version of Hide and Seek since the seeking park is pretty easy. Here are some cute photos of her and Peter hiding under the blanket.

So I got Hannah to look at the camera, but you can see that Peter is still trying to hide. Do you see his leg and the bottom part of his sweater?

Side note: I've gotten alot of comments on my jammies post...mainly on the fact that I bought 21 pairs of jammies. So let me just clarify: 12 are for next year (4 for each kid), 4 are for my new daughter since previously she had no fleece jams, 2 were the matching monster jams (which I think we can all agree are super cute and therefore a must have :-p), 1 extra pair for Peter for this year (they are camo and have a lion on them), and then 2 two piece non fleece jams for Hannah. These will last her a while since they are a shirt and pants. The other 2 piece jams she has are size 2T so it was time for an upgrade. Here she is in her non fleece jammies.

I'm not really sure why the dog ones are so much tighter. It seems like since they came from the boy's section they should be a little baggier. Hmm...

more matching jammies

So Carter's was having a huge fleece footy jammy sale today, so I bought a bunch of matching jammies for the kids. Here are some pictures of the kids in their new matching monster jammies.

I also bought all three kids some matching jammies for next winter. Now if I can only store them in a place where I remember where they are. :-D

***So I might have gone alittle overboard. I just showed Caleb all the jammies that I bought and it totaled 21. In my defense, 12 of them are for next year (that's 4 pairs for each kid) and 4 of them are for our new girl for this winter. Before today, she had no warm jammies and since it's cold here I had to do something to rectify the situation. But now I think I"m pretty set for the next 2 years or so. :-D

Must Haves for Mom

A while back a friend asked me what would be a good gift for a baby shower. Well, I thought it would be fun to gather on the wisdom of you all. What are some of the nifty gadgets that you have found helpful in raising young kids?

Here's are couple of mine:

1. A baby carrier (like the baby bjorn)

2. Nursing Covers

3. The baby bjorn bibs (the ones made of a rubber/plastic that catch everything and are super easy to clean)

4. Bumbo

Cute Conversation

Here's a link to Elizabeth's blog. Caleb and I were fast asleep when this conversation occurred between Joe and Hannah.

New Years In Spokane

We just returned from a wonderful 4 days in Spokane. Here are some highlights of our trip:

- Playing games...lots of games. The kids are now old enough where we don't have to restrict our game playing to after the kids go to bed. We can play during nap/quiet time...or when they are downstairs in the playroom or watching a movie.

- Catching up with Levi. Levi was also up visiting Titus and Elizabeth so we got to see him and hang out.

- Snow. Every morning Hannah would tell me, "Mom, the snow is STILL here." She was so excited. The first day she got on her snow gear and played outside with Joe. They lasted about 10 minutes before the 12F weather got to them.

- Sledding. Hannah actually went sledding. She tends to be a little cautious about such things, but after some really slow rides, we actually traveled at a good velocity.

- Hannah and Judah dressed up in some pretty cute costumes. Hannah's the tiger and Judah is the frog.

- Playing with Gus, Titus and Elizabeth's German Shepard. OK, this wasn't a highlight for me, but Caleb sure had fun with him.

Well, that's all I can think of. Mainly the kids played together and the adults played games. Here are some fun pictures.

Peter riding Levi's Guitar.

Isn't it beautiful how the snow stuck to the trees?

One day we napped Peter and Judah in the same room. There was alot of playing going on before they fell asleep. Apparently there was also quite a bit of toys being transferred into Peter's pack'n'play as well. Here's how we found Peter sleeping.

Caleb & Gus

Judah the frog and Hannah the tiger. I asked Hannah, "Are you a tiger?" Her response, "No I'm a person in a tiger costume."

Peter all bundled up to go out in the snow.

This is my favorite sledding picture - Titus and Abigail.
